Look at that photo and tell me there is no God So, when you look at something which is one of the most destructive forces in this world, causing massive devistation, death, and ruined lives', that makes you know there is a God?
Volcanoes and earthquakes must make you feel oh-so-holy.

Stay safe, CK.
To my untrained eye, it looks like it's trying to reform, complete with a defined eye and a (more-or-less) symmetrical shape.

There was lots of it there and no one buying it but us and the ex-marine. I was surprised. I don't think people have really thought this through here, either that or everyone is so numb from constantly being told we in the DC area are ripe for a chem-bio-nuclear-end-of-the-world attack that they are just too worn out to panic. Or there could just be lots of stupid people. I don't think DH and I are over-reacting. Even a tropical storm can do a lot of damage here.

Most opinions I've read this evening are for Isabel strentghening to a low to medium cat 3 and accelerating before landfall. Still too soon to tell about course changes.

If we're going to be in the "red zone" by Thursday, make sure you get all your laundry, vacuuming, dishwashing, in other words, everything you need electricity for, by tomorrow evening.

At present, hurricane Isabel appears to be headed for New Jersey.
Tomorrow, and each passing day, it looks to bend further north.
Cape Cod is sticking right out into the path of it.

My sister lived there for 10 years. She was driven out by one of the hurricanes.

So, when you look at something which is one of the most destructive forces in this world, causing massive devistation, death, and ruined lives', that makes you know there is a God? I think what he was trying to say (if it's anything like what I've often thought), is that, in addition to its aesthetic beauty, this hurricane photo taken from space reminds us that there are still things in this world over which we have absolutely no control; hence, mankind still isn't all that, even though we'd like to think so. This hurricane is going to do what it's going to do, and there's not a damn thing we can do about it, except get out of its way.
So, whether you believe in God or not, I think we can agree that as great as the human mind is, there are still many things in this world that we are powerless to stop, and a hurricane bearing down on you will tend to remind you of that fact.

My niece is experiencing her "first one" right now. She's not really happy -- right across from Oceanic Pier.
Plus she works at New Hanover Regional Medical Center and they are going to be locked down tomorrow night at 11 PM.
Whine, whine, whine. If her mother was still alive, we'd be laughing about how spoiled our kids were/are.

I don't think you are over reacting in the least - but then I am looking at it from the standpoint of someone that lives about 15 mile or less between both the Chesapeake Bay and Atlantic Ocean!
Seriously - people in more 'urban' areas don't seem to understand just what these storms can do. They figure if they live in a city, they are safe.
It's not stupidity - it's denial or naivete.

Look at this photo and tell me there IS a God! Whether there is a God or not, both photo's are more likely to make me believe there is a devil, or at least a Beelzebubba.
