They would like me and every other American or Jew dead or converted to Islam. You may be fine with their list of grievences, but I for one, consider it a direct attack on my way of life. Everything that can be done to stop them, should be done.
As for "sitting down to talk" as you say, it should never happen. You may advocate negotiating for your rights with terrorist, I would negiotiate my rights with a gun.
The US captilist system against the the Islamic system, just like you did with the communist system.
Your argument seems to be that your system is not only better, but the only system and if the world does not agree we will destroy you, either financially or militarily.
Can I remind everyone who agrees with you what happend in Vietnam. You lost and why? becuase the people there were prepared to give their lives for a cause and others in the area supported their fight against an agressor, just like we see in Iraq at the moment
I do not know how many vietnamese there were, but I know there are more than a 1 billion Muslims, scattered throught the world.
So be careful what you wish for, as they are prepared to die for their faith, which I doubt anyone posting today would do.

The war should not be against the muslim world, it should be addressed soley to the people causing the problem, no matter what their faith.
Also, do you realise the only organisation that actually claimed responsibility for September 11th, were the Japanese Red Army and less than 1 month after September 11th (7th October 2001) the Japanese Red Army were taken off the list of Terror Organisations by the State Department.
