ATF Night Hosted by California Assembly Nominee John Brantuk Telephone: (562) 698-2870 email: John.W.Brantuk@BrantukForAssembly.org www.BrantukForAssembly.org

What is "ATF Night"? No, we're not the federal gun control agency. We are a social gathering of Second Amendment and liberty activists and leaders who meet monthly to discuss firearms-related issues over (optional) adult beverages and dinner, and afterwards, those so inclined may choose to step outside to continue discussions while enjoying a fine cigar - hence the name.

Originally hosted by The Lawyers' Second Amendment Society, the meetings have continued thanks to the leadership assumed by John Brantuk, Republican Nominee for the California State Assembly ( see www.BrantukForAssembly.org )

You don't have to be an activist to join us - newcomers and the curious are always welcome. And admission is always free.

||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||| "1ST DEBATE" - from the San Francisco Chronicle 09/04/2003 On many of the issues Wednesday night, McClintock stood alone. He opposed abortion, vowed never to raise taxes and called for fewer restrictions on gun ownership, since "people have a fundamental right to defend themselves from violent predators."

His strong conservative stances likely won him some votes, possibly at the expense of more moderate Republicans such as Schwarzenegger and Ueberroth.

Republican analyst Tony Quinn said McClintock stood out from the pack of other hopefuls.

"Arnold's problem is they've got to get rid of McClintock -- and this hurt him," he said. "This gave McClintock the attention he won't get otherwise."

Pollster Mervyn Field agreed. "Arnold was hurt tonight," he said. "The question was: If he'd have been here, would he have been hurt more?"

"McClintock was forceful, and remarkable in his contrasts on positions" from the others.

A 70 person capacity? Uncanny. Makes me think McTicktock wants it to "appear" he has a crowd overflow numbering in the hundreds.

Its an old trick in the music management business. Managers often book the smallest venues they can find for their band's concert dates, especially if the band is new or lousy. The handful of people that actually do show up look like hundreds or thousands more than there actually are.

We have some VERY capable "sargeants-at-arms" ready to deal with any trouble-makers.

Oh, and for anyone thinking about disrupting, REMEMBER, this is "ATF Night" - a group of ARMED citizen/patriots . . .

"You Arniebots are trashing a good and decent man, who also happens to be a friend of mine."

****Please see my two posts to the gentleman who originated this thread... I in no way trashed him. I did feel badly that the notification of this event became mired on the ongoing recall battle and attempted to reassure him that that the fighting on the thread was not related to his wonderful event. Additionally, it is the garbage-comments like "Arnie-bots" that have caused this dispute to get so vicious. Most "Arnie-bots" support and respect McClintock but believe that voter demographics guide us to support Arnold's campaign. The same cannot be stated about the Tom supporters who began nasty name-calling and vicious comments like that the first night Arnold agreed to run.

If "Arnie-bots" have gotten too defensive or rowdy for your comfort... look to the posters here who originally turned political debate into constant personal insults.

Enjoy ATF night, it does look to be a terrific evening :-)

BTW, I hope you have a good time! It does sound like a great event :-)

The ongoing dispute here is in no way meant to hurt the support for what you are doing, honestly. Arnold-supporters have just gotten bashed around too much lately because of a small but loud handful of McClintock campaign thugs.

Enjoy and we hope you let us know how it went :-)

I realized after we starting arguing Tom-Arnold again that you might get the wrong impression that any here opposed your event... frankly, I'm jealous of all who can go!

Please enjoy the occasion and think of us less fortunate ones :-)

Steve, look to the end of the press conference where Arnold apologizes for not providing a great deal of detail and promises more prior to the election.

Well, as anyone can see from the posts on this thread, one cannot be overly optimistic about the average I.Q. of some of the people reading and posting to the thread.

We find that we have to make it VERY SIMPLE for some of you to find the check-in table and the hostesses. ;-)

Am I really understanding this correctly? You're actually trying to get people to believe that Freepers supporting Arnold would actually disrupt this event?

That's your most ridiculous and vicious smear yet...

It's because Arnold supporters are stupid. You would be lucky to find the place. Obviously your vote is not wanted there.

So, we should not look out for the interests of our state, only Bush's

If that was my only reason for supporting Arnold then you would have a valid point. It is obviously not the only reason I support him, though, and I haven't seen others express that as their only reason, either.

Attacking a candidate based on his appearance is still petty. But getting my post removed for hurt feelings is the epitome of petty.

Note that it DOESN'T state "Banquet Room Only!

I imagine that if someone invites you to a "pool party" you only stay IN the pool at ALL times?

And I do not appreciate your sarcasm in calling me "Einstein." It just demonstrates that if horse manure was music your postings would be a symphony! ;-)

Steve, look to the end of the press conference where Arnold apologizes for not providing a great deal of detail and promises more prior to the election.

OK, but Arnold is taking a pass on the minors and going straight to the big leagues. If he wants to play with the big boys, he needs to spell out his program before the voting begins.

Take a look at that calendar that D1 keeps posting for when the absentee voting began.

I'm sorry but I have learned to be skeptical of politicians who say they need more time for this excuse or that excuse. If Arnold wants to be governor, he can be coy about it, but he will not win my support if there's a better candidate out there that *I* like and that *I* think can win. So far, Tom's the man, and Arnold's details are, like Arnold himself (unless you're Howard Stern) --MIA.

I don't want another politician who is MIA when it comes to defending *my* rights.

If we are concerned about "Unintended Consequences", it is our *obligation* to use every peaceful means necessary to defend our natural rights. First and foremost-- freedom of speech, and the ballot box.

As for if we lose, we can "lose" no matter who we vote for, and that is a fact. And we can win Pyhrric victories. If *my* vote were to go to Arnold, and McClintock were subsequently to lose by 1 vote, how could I ever possibly blame anyone but myself? I don't want to put myself in that position.

Arnold's statements about needing more time and the public not interested in details tells me that he does not think the average voter is very smart, and that he can therefore pull a fast one over their eyes with impunity. That's not the kind of message I want to hear from a person asking for my vote for governor in this election.

I listen to talk show radio, but Arnold is MIA there.

I like gun rights organizations, but Arnold is MIA there.

I like debates, but Arnold is MIA there.

Arnold is MIA wherever I look as far as issues of importance to me are concerned. If Arnold wants my vote, he needs to earn it by showing up at these forums and addressing the issues I care about.

Arnold-- so far-- "No sale!"

Am I really understanding this correctly?

FR's premiere conservation RKBA group invites a candidate rated A by the NRA and GOA. In response, supporters of California's most notorious champion of stricter gun control flood the thread with disparaging remarks. One of the anti-gun zealots actually announces that he has called the restaurant and he then posts the restaurant's phone number.

A new low, even for the gun grabber's groupies.

Good. The gun grabber's groupies wil run faster than their idol does from a real debate.
