O's Keep Wells From 200th Win [show me the money]

Before the game, the Orioles announced that Thursday's series finale has been moved up from 7:05 p.m. to 12:35 p.m. in hopes of getting the game in and allowing the Yankees to catch their flight to Tampa Bay afterward. The announcement came only 12 hours after a team spokesman insisted there was no chance it would be changed.

No doubt the decision also had to do with the bottom line: If the game is played Thursday, the Orioles get to keep the gate, but if the game is postponed, it will be made up next weekend at Yankee Stadium, with the Yankees getting the gate.

Even with the earlier time, the Yankees are still worried they will not be able to beat the storm and get out of town. They are planning to bus to Philadelphia after Thursday's game to give themselves a better chance.

The Orioles remain in Baltimore to play a weekend series against the Toronto Blue Jays. Friday night's game is still on as scheduled, although the storm could affect it as well.

"Everybody's scratching their head about why we're cutting it so close, but it's not our decision," Yankees Manager Joe Torre said. "When you're dealing with revenue in today's baseball, that's what it comes down to."

"The city [of Baltimore] is shutting down [Thursday]. The government's shutting down. And we're playing," moaned Wells. "Figure that one out."

Boomer will get it next time. Today Mussina went for his 200th win, but did'nt get it either as the game was called a tie at 1-1
(The Yankees and Orioles tried to play through an impending hurricane on Thursday at Camden Yards, but the game was ruled a 1-1 tie after five innings because of heavy rain and wind. The game counts as a tie, with all stats counting as official. If the game is needed to determine postseason seedings, it will be replayed in its entirety at a date not yet determined. I heard they played in heavy rainfall, on a soggy field.

Prime conditions for season-ending injuries.

According the the Baltimore broadcast the YANKEES REFUSED TO PLAY A DOUBLEHEADER YESTERDAY.

So it's the fault of the Yankees. Weather was beautiful yesterday.
