What's wrong with tap water? Why do people buy that bottled stuff?
Serious questions.

What's wrong with tap water? Why do people buy that bottled stuff? Thats a heck of a question, and I can't for the life of me come up with a reasonable answer. America's water supply is the envy of the universe..

What's wrong with tap water? Why do people buy that bottled stuff? Some people don't like the taste of the chemicals they use. Personally I prefer tap water...it has character. Bottled water has no taste and is much too expensive.

What's wrong with tap water? Why do people buy that bottled stuff? Depends on where you live. Some tap water tastes like hell, and has a distinct brown color. Other city's water tastes ....like water should taste.

What's wrong with tap water? Why do people buy that bottled stuff? Where I live, even with a water softener, the water is so hard that I would have to clean my coffee pot every three or four days if I used it directly from the tap, and the high mineral content makes the taste almost unbearable. I installed a filter unit under the sink to produce decent water.
On the other hand, when I lived in Maryland, the water tasted fine, didn't leave deposits on the faucets, and never clogged the coffee maker. In Maryland, I rarely bought bottled water.

My doctor ordered me to drink a minimum of 64 oz of water every day. I live a very active lifestyle and so I carry a bottle of water wherever I go. If I'm around a tap when I empty the bottle, I will refill it with tap water. It just helps me consume the water my body needs.
BTW, I buy the .5 liter bottles at Sam's Club. It costs only $4.96 for 32 bottles, which lasts our family a week or so.

In So Cal where I live the tapwater is very hard. Mineral deposits grow like stalactites on all the plumbing fixtures. You can't let water dry on your car when washing it or you will get mineral traces bad enough to etch the paint. Makes you wonder what is happening inside your kidneys when you drink the stuff.
That's why we switched to bottled several years ago. And once you become used to the taste of purified water it's hard to drink So Cal tapwater.

I personally buy bottled water. Not all that often but enough to add to the numbers.
It is a matter of convenience. I am on the road allot and even though I refill the bottles and take one with me, I often need more water and do not drink pop (a SOBE or juice is a treat).
Water at the house is great (well water), but I just do not carry enough for a long day going from client to client (I drink about 60 to 80 oz during the day).
Just think how cool it is that in America today the standard of living is so high we can pay a buck for 20 oz of water in a plastic container!
