Venturing outside the state's political universe, Governor Mitt Romney appears ready to endorse Arnold Schwarzenegger in his bid to be governor of California.
Romney, at a meeting of Republican donors and governors yesterday, declined to confirm his plans, but said he would support the Republican with "the best chance of being elected governor." Advisers said all signs appear to be pointing toward Schwarzenegger, who, like Romney, has top GOP consultant Mike Murphy on his campaign payroll.
