Actually it's a lack of conviction, a lack of knowledge in both the scriptures and the Charters of Freedom, the watering-down of religion, the establishment of a feel-good-Bible-Bingo-custom-made-modern-Jesus doctrine and a general lack of preaching and teaching the Truth about sin and the need to overcome it.
In short, religion in America has become what scripture itself foretold: "...having the form of religion, but denying the power thereof" (2 Tim 3:1-5)
And also what Jesus Himself said quoting Isaiah: "This people honors me with their lips, but their hearts are far away from me. In vain they worship Me, teaching as doctrines the precepts of men" (Mt.15:8-9)
To which our Founders in their wisdom warned us themselves:"When a People forget God, tyrants forge their chains" - Patrick Henry
And Wala! Here we are in America today - heading down the express elevator to chaos, oppression, obscurity and oblivion as a nation.
