HUME: Tell me one thing. How often do you talk to your dad?

BUSH: You know, probably once every two weeks.

HUME: Really? Because I think a lot of people would imagine that you guys would be in touch constantly.

Just a reminder that 900,000 people contributed $30 each and it enabled Republicans to take back the Senate! With Weasley Clark entering the Presidential race for the DemocRATs, the Clinton money making machine will shift into high gear for him. Let's show them what Republicans can do by donating to Bush-Cheney '04 today! Thanks!

I ended up watching it. I hadn't expected such a puff piece. I expected just straight Q&A. Questions like "which is tougher, criticism against you or against your dad?" are right out of the Babwa Wawa playbook. Brit asked a couple of decent questions, but this was more a "profile" than an interview, except for the last segment in the Oval Office.

I was surprised that Brit couldn't get it that W doesn't watch the Dem candidates/talking heads. W tried politely to explain that he has a few other things that require his attention.

It just seemed like one of those Tom Brokaw White House tours until they sat down in the Oval Office and got busy. Some of that was interesting. The view of the Washington Monument from the South Lawn. Just not what I expected. Interesting that the President and also Sec. Powell are talking about the upcoming report on WMD. The press put a story out recently that there was no there there. We shall see. GWB has this habit of letting things build up, then stepping up to the plate. I have had my doubts recently. But he says be patient, so I will be.

Was also surprised to see the lack of hard questions. It seems to be the mantra of today's press corps -- puffballs. I enjoyed the interview, but like you thought there would be more hard questions (I would have preferred). Hard questions instead of a lot of puffballs would have allowed the President to get his message out even more!

He did challenge him on a couple of things, but yes, mostly it was Larry-King-like. I would have liked him to bring up immigration, as that's something that nobody in the media or politics is talking much about.

Agreed. I wonder what the ratings were. Maybe drudge has em.

I have noticed that very little is said, asked, or written about all the illegal immigration!

Yesterday was the first time I actually read an article about illegals coming across the border in Arizona that are taken to Texas to be sent back across the border. Didn't even know that program was going on -- maybe I just missed it but it sure is not well publicized.

Wouldn't you think after 9/11, it would be right at the top of everyone's questions?

Thanks a lot for posting it! Of course, the words about my country were reported by my local media, too, but it´s better to read the whole interview!

I continue to believe that this President is a honest man and that he deeply believes that what he does is the best for the American people. Noone know wether his decisions is right or wrong, but what one can expect from him is, that he believes in his decisions. And that´s what he´s perfectly doing.

Even though I do not always agree with his policy, I respect politicians who have a backbone and are determined to do what they think they have to do.

He has me beat too! I love the fact he is a football/sports fan and thinks like that -- 80 yard drives! Wonder if anyone watching wondered what an 80 yard drive was?

According to drudge:

BUSH INTERVIEW ON FOX FINISHES 4TH IN SLOT, MONDAY OVERNIGHTS CLAIM... 3.7 RATING/6 SHARE FOR OVAL CHAT TRAILES CBS PREMIERES -- NEARLY 3 TO 1

I am not surprised by this. It was a non-event.

Thanks for the transcript - I missed the interview.

I will make it clear that I made the right decision and the others that joined us made the right decision.

Constitutionally, it wasn't his decision to make. Had the constitution been followed, the nine dwarves and congress for that mattter, would be the ones explaining that they made the right decision - a decision mandated by the people.
