They've just moved from one venue to another and will probably be met with open arms by VH1 who world-premiered their new video last night (not CMT) and soon to be embraced by MTV who love overexposure (pun intended) and sensationalism. Soon to be appearing in stilletos.

They know that country music fans are a vast majority of right wing conservatives and they just can't handle it! Pathetic Losers! I hope they move to France and choke on their Croissants!
To: jonalvy44
I'm still so very ashamed they are from America. :o)

I thought that music doesn't know political and ideological borders. Obviously I was wrong. I love Johnny Cash, and I am not a right wing conservative. Ah well...

Going home empty-handed from the Country Awards ceremony also made them decide to break with the scene, Maguire said.Too bad, so sad. Their music was really good, too. This is one boycott that was tough for me. Glad it's over. (I'm presuming that their change of genre will be as successful as most others... not very)
To: jonalvy44
Oh good, maybe more will follow them. How many does this make now? Some have only made empty promises, needing more encouragement I suppose.
To: jonalvy44
Wow, they don't have committment to anything, do they? First they bad mouth their president to get cheap applause from a foreign audience, then when they start losing money they said they didn't mean it, now they say that they aren't really "Country" anymore.
My God, what cowerdice of convictions.

The interesting thing to realize about the Chicks move away from country music is that while it may serve them in the short-run, it will backfire in the long run.
Had they behaved as real American's, they could have remained popular at some level anyway, until they are in their 60's, selling records. performing etc. for a country music crowd.
The teeny-bopper crowd won't be reliable in that respect. The Chicks will be too old and out of that scene eventually. And country music fans won't forget their treacherous statements.
So the Chicks are doomed, if not now, then certainly later.
