But, citizens have full Constitutional protection so they can be treated as citizens who were Communists during the Cold War were treated. Being a communist didn't automatically make them a security risk.

If the government could violate that for them, they can do it next year for owners of "illegal assault rifles" (Or Bibles for that matter).

Theoretically this is true but practically (as in the case of Communism), if the country becomes Islamic, the government will become Islamic and the whole point will be moot ...

Yes it did. So did being homosexual, an alcholic, badly in debt, and a number of other things as well. No problem with that. There is no right to be in the military, work for a defense contractor, or hold a security clearance.
