My freind, who is a 56 year old Vietnam vet, has gone back to school for a graduate degree. One of his courses is titled "the significance of time" or some such. As part of his first assignment his class was given Martin Luther King's letter from the Birmingham jail to read and comment on in a non-interpretive manner. The letter contains phrases like "time doesn't heal all wounds" (refering to slavery, of course) and that "time is the ally of stagnation" (refering to the black ministers of the day who condemned MLK for causing trouble and breaking the law). My freind is finding the course very interesting and was upset that I thought it reeked of propoganda and leftist indoctrination of students. I guess I'm just an old suspicious right winger.
