State GOP leaders press McClintock to quit recall race

In the clearest sign yet that the Republican Party is coalescing behind actor Arnold Schwarzenegger, three influential party leaders Tuesday ratcheted up the pressure on state Sen. Tom McClintock to abandon his bid to be governor.

The state's ranking Republican, Senate Minority Leader Jim Brulte, said McClintock's candidacy threatens to put another Democrat in the governor's office. The man who bankrolled the recall petition drive, U.S. Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Vista, pointedly called on McClintock to drop out of the race. And the former head of the party, a fellow conservative, is asking county chairs to endorse the more moderate Schwarzenegger at a meeting Thursday.

Since I and countless thousands have already placed our votes, McClintock would be "disenfranchising" and negating a whole lot of voters if he quit at this late a date.

McClintock should stay in until about a week before the election to have his ideas heard.

Then if it looks too close, he should pull out and get behind Arnold. As sad as it is, I think Davis would be better than Bustamante. The point is that Republicans will suffer if this recall is unsuccessful. It will be played up nationally by the Dems as a failed attempt to overturn an election by the true will of the people. At some point Tom should swallow his pride and do what's best for California and the Republican party.

IMHO, we passed that point a week or two ago.

Now the only issue is whether McC will "swallow his pride" and stop the gushing hemmorhage of his credibility and future with the GOP.

I read that the Republican Chairs put out the memo and 33 out of 34 endorsed Arnold already at the Convention.

"``For Tom, the governorship is simply a bridge too far,'' said Brulte of Rancho Cucamonga, who stopped just short of calling for McClintock to withdraw at a press conference announcing his endorsement of Schwarzenegger. ``His candidacy puts at risk not only the election of a Republican governor, but the recall itself.''

Issa is laying right on the line too. Sounds like 99% of prominent Republicans are sick and tired of McClintock's game playing and stubbornness.

"And he said McClintock had promised him before the recall qualified for the ballot that he would run only if there was a crowded field and would not be a spoiler for another Republican candidate.

``Those words will not be forgotten, because it's no longer a crowded field and he is going to be a spoiler,'' Issa said in an interview Tuesday. ``I'm holding Tom McClintock to the promises he made to me, and I believe he's a man who will keep his promises.''

We have all witnessed the corruption of the democratic party from within and more as more leftist ideologes join the party and get elected.

You are witnessing the corruption of the republican party the same way with Arnold. He is a globalist socialist like all the democrats, but because you think he is a teensy bit more conservative than they are, you think everyone else should give up their principles and vote for him. How does corrupting the republican party with people who do not support the republican platform help anyone? Oh, then these new republicans will change it, make it more liberal so that more people will vote for them. Pretty soon, you will see the republican party tilting so far left you won't recognize it, just like the democratic party has. It certainly won't help get the state back on track, and it helps the leftists because it is only a matter of degree, before they get a really leftist candidate voted in on the republican ticket. They will say, after all, "he's the only one who has a chance of getting elected". Clearly that is a method of propagandizing the voter who should be voting for the person who will stand for their values, not for the values of the opposing party.

We have seen over and over politicians ignoring the electorate to push the globalist agenda. Arnold, if elected will do the same. And California will keep suffering and we will lose all our freedom to the open border social engineering globalists who are looting California for all its worth.

Name calling is propagandizing.

I remember hearing Bill O'Reilly talking about Arnold. He wanted to give Arnold a pass because he didn't know how the state government was run, a pass because he didn't have an opinion on key issues, and a pass because he didn't have his platform in place, and then vote for the guy.

However, Mr. McClintock does know how the government works (the governor can't "repeal" the illegal immigrant driver license law, he has to support the referendum) he had positions that were in harmony with the republican platform and he had a platform. So why not vote for the guy who is the most qualified instead of giving a pass to a guy who doesn't know what he is doing and will very likely continue the disasterous support of illegals and other socially leftist policies the current governor supports? Or maybe its because too many people support the corruption of the republican party and want to force it to the left?
