Show me your source for this statement, please. I live here, and as fas as we have been told, the Indians are a "Soverign Nation" and they pay no income taxes, property taxes, building permits, follow zoning or building codes, etc, etc, etc. They are trying to get a complete exemption on sales taxes on retail sales on their land. If that goes thru- the 9 man Board of Equalization, not the voters- then I can see instant Wal-Marts and Home Depots on each end of their casinos. Haven't been able to pin down yet if they have to follow labor laws about minimum wage, etc, or OSHA stuff. They are being very arrogant about what they "Owe" the local area for the costs of fire, police, etc.
I know there was a large concert in So Cal outside of Palm Springs within the last 2 years. There were multiple fights, stabbings, etc tied to the concert, and the roads were shut down with random cars parked everywhere. The Indian tribe who held the concert claimed they weren't responsible and wouldn't reimburse the county a dime for the costs of trying to quell the near riot that happened when the ambulance and police couldn't get thru.
When they(the Indians) asked the voters to pass Prop 2 a few years back, they led us to believe that they wanted small casinos back in the hills on their already owned property. Since then, they are secretly buying property all over, claiming them as "heritage" lands, and building huge casinos overnight. Told Placer County planning department and Supervisors they would have 3000 "car trips" a day(24 hours open) and then built a parking lot that holds more than 5000 cars. What's wrong with that math?
Bottom line: THEY LIE!! Or should I say they speak with forked toungue?

Actually, they pay the same amount: $0.

Indian Gaming pays NO taxes to the local cities, state and federal governments. Nada. Zip. Nor do the casinos on Indian
Reservations have to follow the laws, rules and regulations of the US of A. They are a "sovereign nation."

That's why the "tribes" from New Jersey and Neveda love to use Indian casinos as fronts for their gambling operations.

Indian Gaming tribes make and break their own rules. They can give as much money as they want to politicians and the community--if it's in their interests. It's a form of Red Reparations...courtesy of the Clinton Administration and some slick PR/Political work about 15 years ago.
