[history]
Proposition 54, which would restrict the state from collecting most racial and ethnic data, is leading among all ethnic groups -- and enjoys more support from people of color than whites, according to a poll released Thursday.
The poll -- described by its authors as the most comprehensive survey of voters of color ever conducted in California -- showed that likely Latino voters back Proposition 54 by the greatest proportion, 46 percent to 33 percent.

This same polling firm found the recall losing bigtime. I'd suggest that they may need to go back to the drawing board insofar as proper sampling methods are concerned...

... and I'll bet he's got more pressing matters on his mind.
Nonetheless, I've no doubts a Governor Arnold will Do his JOB in supporting and enforcing Prop 54 when it passes -- unlike Davis, Lockyer (etc.) have done since passage of Prop 209. They said they didn't support it; and they wouldn't support -- even as elected governmental officials in the state of CA, and they DIDN'T.

I still think 54 is going to pass in any case.

Suspect you're right. Pity Arnold didn't throw his support behind it - would have made him much more palatable to conservatives while increasing the chance of passage.
Unfortunately, leadership requires sticking your neck out for what you believe - and Arnold either doesn't believe in Prop 54, or he's not a leader.

Everyone has heard of "Pew" polling data, etc. However, how many have researched the "USC Annenberg's Institute for Justice and Journalism" - Very much a worthwhile look into a hot bed of very interesting connections.

I have looked into this poll per another thread. It's complete hogwash. Not to say 54 won't pass (even a broken clock is right twice a day) but this poll will tell you about as much as throwing darts blind-folded.
To: AndyTheBear
well, please, refer us to the other thread.

I haven't gone over it yet; but, yes, just reading the overviews? yawn.. their contention is minorities are too stupid to understand why the want to vote YES on 54; and Whites are too GUILTY to vote for it. It's the tired, same old from the same players..

Vanguard is a group that not only organized the anti-war protests in SF, but funds them, and protects them, finds the protestors lawyers, etc........ For example.

Darn. That was on Vanguard. Annenberg -- I gotta pull up my old data and compare it to their newer stuff. If you go to their website; the list of "endorsers" is near abouts the same as "Move-On. org" cast.

If Arnold is as smart as I hope he is... I hope he gives them a call, gets close, gets closer, gets data, and carries a taperecorder. :)
