[history]
Little known outside the state until now, McClintock has struck a chord with the right wing of the Republican Party nationwide with his frank presentation of his point of view anti-tax, anti-big government, anti-abortion, anti-gun control, anti-illegal immigration, anti-gay marriage.
"Tom is one of us," said Richard A. Viguerie, who has founded dozens of conservative organizations over the last 40 years and pioneered direct-mail fund-raising for the Republican Party in the 1970s and '80s. "And it's so exciting to have someone who wants to be associated with us, who will walk with us, win or lose. I see Tom as being a major national conservative leader in the future."
McClintock is seizing the moment.

You are going to get ripped apart on this one. The CA G.O.P. is freaking out because the candidate they oppose is now getting positive national attention. Pandora's box is opened.

If all of the conservatives who are complaining about him would vote for him, I believe he would pull it offIf frogs had wings they wouldn't bump their a$$es.

I'm with you. Very few,if any, politicians today stick to their guns about how they stand on issues, but McClintock does.
I'm so sick of politicians putting up their finger in the air to see which way the wind is blowing before they open their mouths. Hypocrisy rules these days, anything for a vote from one special interest group or another.

If Schwarzenegger were running "as a Democrat, conservatives wouldn't touch him with a 10-foot pole," And he could easily swap that (R) for a (D) without changing his position on anything. So could Riordan, for that matter. Of course, in CA Davis could go (R) and be considered a proper republican. Go figure.

We must decide now who we are going to blame when Tom gets beaten again. We can not put this off - we only have 10 days until Tom goes down in flames again.
Let's see - the following have been suggested: the RINO crowd (that's anyone who doesn't agree that Tom is a winner and the only answer), the "Country Club" republicans (Republicans who are personally financially successful that didn't contribute to Tom's campaign), and third - those fiscally and socially conservative Republicans who don't agree that being "pro-life" is the only important issue. Please add anyone else you can think of.
Remember, WE MUST HAVE SOMEONE TO BLAME!!!

Thanks for posting the article. Good stuff.
Tom McClintock has friends here in Colorado. Truth be told, it seems Tom has more support outside of California then he has inside the Golden State. It's pathetic and sad. The Cal GOP has been taken over by wishy-washy, left of center, leftcoast centrists (aka.RINO's) and their desperate efforts for a win. Even many loyal Republicans have flushed their conservative principles and GOP convictions down the toilet in order to elect a liberal candidate named Arnie.
Califorina Republicans are squandering a unqiue opportunity. They have a fairly popular legislator and bonafide conservative, who has no hint of scandal in his past. Instead of uniting behind Tom McClintock, they instead have chose to insult and smear this traditional values conservative and would rather have a liberal Republican win. Amazing.
OTOH, Arnie does nothing to advance the conservative agenda or the GOP party platform. Nothing.

We must decide now who we are going to blame when Tom gets beaten again. We can not put this off - we only have 10 days until Tom goes down in flames again. Today's poll shows Arnold with 40%, Bustamove with 25%, and McClintock with 18%.
It's time to stop blaming McClintock for anything. It appears Arnold will win on his own, without the true blues having to cave on their principles.

Amen to this ... Let the voters decide.
If Arnie wins, he is nothing more than Davi$ at worst, wilson at best.
To expect conservatives to buy into the ego and the team arnie surrounds himself with is a bit much, imo. The Kennedyization of California is begun.

Post a briefer excerpt next time. Thank you.

Today's poll shows Arnold with 40%, Bustamove with 25%, and McClintock with 18%. "Tom, is that a surge in your pocket or are you just happy to that you really don't have to try to lead?"
To: TERMINATTOR
Though I would vote for Arnold, McClintock is now my favorite Republican since Steve Forbes. Not only does he understand the importance and mechanics of economic growth, he is incredibly good at distilling his ideas into potent sound bites. I really hope he continues to rise nationally in the coming years.

Blame Tom??? Well Tom doesn't play on the team, and he is my rep. Listen this I really respected Tom and even volunteered at his office until about 8 weeks ago. Tom is accepting huge cash from the indian gaming tribes, where they did not before. Why? to split the vote. He knows this is their reason and does not care. Thus he is a compromised politition. He showed under pressure he would give up his morals. HE is DONE. He will be thrown out of office the next term.
