LOS ANGELES -- It was less than two weeks ago that Arnold Schwarzenegger took his message directly to voters on Larry King's popular talk show, but the actor refused King's invitation Saturday to come on again and debate Gov. Gray Davis one on one. Aides to the Republican movie star characterized Davis' demand for a debate as an act of desperation "by a politician who is facing political extinction," but Davis, after a ceremony in which he signed six bills designed to protect the elderly, said he can't understand why Schwarzenegger won't slug it out with him.

Old rule of politics: the guy wanting the debate is losing. Looks like Davis knows the jig is up.

Here's the cnn/gallup numbers:

"LOS ANGELES, California (CNN) -- Voters in the California recall election might be poised to kick Gov. Gray Davis out and vote Republican Arnold Schwarznegger in, according to a CNN/USA Today/Gallup poll released Sunday. When asked how they they would vote on recalling Davis, 63 percent of probable voters said they would vote yes, compared with 35 percent who would vote no. In a separate vote to choose a replacement for Davis, Schwarzenegger was the choice of 40 percent of respondents. Democratic Lt. Gov. Cruz Bustamante was the choice for 25 percent of voters polled, Republican state Sen. Tom McClintock received 18 percent"

Trending nicely. Hehehe....

I should have noted the contradiction in terms here. Davis and 'live' don't belong in the same sentence.

The landslide has started!

Tomsbots, sorry but you'll have to use your over active imaginations to envision Tom's "Super Surge".

Davis is no longer the issue. The real story is who will replace him, because he is going, going, gone. Therefore, if he wants a debate, I'm sure the motor mouth Huffington would be willing to debate simply because it will be one more opportunity to be seen. No serious candidate has a reason to debate him.

Why on earth wold anyone want to debate with davis? All voters get to do is vote Yes or No to oust him. The real election is in choosing who will replace his sorry behind. Anyone who wants to debate him is either a dang fool, a Davis supporter, or a dang fool Davis supporter.

There is no way Davis can participate in a live debate-he's dead meat and he knows it.

I don't know, a debate might be interesting. I'd really like to hear Davis explain how electricity doesn't really cost 3 times what it should, how the state isn't really driving businesses out, how the budget really wasn't balanced through borrowing that the courts are starting to undo. Etc. Sometimes alternative realities can be fun.

Real voter anger is a powerful force of nature to behold. On election day, Davis will feel like a man who's been run over by a spedding mack truck. "What the..."

Davis is rightfully terrified..

The full extent of his corruption will be uncovered, once the criminal enterprise known as the California Democrat Party - loses the Governor's House.

Also, the admitted debt - in excess of 35 BILLION, is going to be seen as UNDER ESTIMATED -- INTENTIONALLY.

Davis and the Democrat legislature have been playing fast and loose with the truth and the taxpayer's money..

The new governor will find that the criminal "cabal" in Kalifornicate - includes the DNC, Teacher's and "Civil Servants" Unions, illegal immigrants, welfare leaches and the "Alliance of Pervert Activists"....

If, as I expect, the courts undo that $10+ billion bond measure that they used to paper over the deficit, we'll certainly see some scrambling. I'll also be very interested to see what Schwarzenegger's audit turns up. I'm betting that there's a whole walk-in closet full skeletons waiting for their chance in the sun.

Not skeletons...

They will find fully fleshed out, well dressed, thieving political whores everywhere they look.
