Forget the Cruz Bustamante "fallback strategy" or the long list of other candidates -- when all is said and done, the recall race is coming down to a face-off between Gov. Gray Davis and Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger, internal tracking polls show.

.

Wouldn't it be funny if Schwarzenegger gets over 50% of the votes, McClintock over 20% and Bustamante has to fight Camejo for third place?

October 7th is going to be a long night for those of us waiting for exit polls and early results.

No on Recall, Yes on Bustamante is the only option for Democrats. Nobody is going to convince me that only 24% of the electorate cares if a Democrat retains control of the Governor's office. That would mean that 76% would lean against the Democrats. While I'd love to believe that is true, I do not believe it for a second.

A third place finish for "Bustaburrito" would be hilarious!

Or two tacos ahead of "Flacco" Davis!

"One problem for Bustamante..is that the same tracking polls are finding that anywhere from 10 percent to 30 percent of Democrats who say they are voting "no" on the recall are going to leave the rest of the ballot blank."

Yeah, but the ACLU, spurred on by Agore thinks these nonvotes should be counted for Busty.
