With little more than a week left in California's recall race, Arnold Schwarzenegger is trying to make his victory seem inevitable. But his more conservative Republican rival isn't going away.
State Sen. Tom McClintock has stuck firmly -- some say obstinately -- to his pledge to race to the end, even at the risk of splitting the Republican vote and allowing Democrats to stay in power even if Gov. Gray Davis is recalled.

The latest polling shows Arnold winning on his own with a confortable lead over both Bustamante and McClintock.
These hit pieces are a bunch of baloney, just like the Arnold supporters' lies throughout this campaign about how "a vote for McClintock is a vote for Bustamante"... Give it a rest already.

My view on this from the outside looking in. As is gonna win Tom McClintock or no Tom McClintock.
The country club republicans and their socially liberal friends can make it impossible for Arnold to defeat Feinstein in the next elcetion if they keep alienating social conservatives.
AS should become best buddies with TM when he gets elected because social conservatives have long memories.

"I've always found wisdom in the motto on Davy Crockett's pocketwatch that was found in the debris of the Alamo," McClintock said Davy Crockett is the one to emulate if you want to be a DEAD HERO. I like Reagan's advise to get what you can today, and LIVE to get the rest tommorow.

The Colorado Springs, Colo., event netted more than $100,000 for his campaign, McClintock said. I thought they said out of state money was dirty.

AS should become best buddies with TM when he gets elected because social conservatives have long memories. Sadly, that's a big part of what Tom's problem is. He's still sore against Pete Wilson and it's effecting his judgement. Not a good trait for a leader.

Reagan's was good but I especially like this one-
"No bastard ever won a war by dying for his country. He won it by making the
other poor dumb bastard die for his country." - General George Patton Jr
To: RGSpincich
Great! Tom wants to die for the cause. Patton be kicking his butt up and down Kalifornia.

A thoughtful post. Thanks for it.

maybe you should remember that the problem with Wilson was that Tom refused to back his $7 BILLION tax INCREASE which
started the downturn in CA prosperity. Wilson and his Rino buddies crapped on Tom every chance they got being pissed that he (and Reaganomics) were right, when the state
got $1 Billion after the increase was instituted!!!
And you think the Wilson/Rino TEAM ARNOLD would let Arnie
even get close to Tom's ideas? When pigs fly...

"McClintock shrugs off such predictions as "terrorist threats" from people who never liked him anyway. "
Did Tom actually say this ?
If so, talk about burning your bridges !

GOP strategist Allan Hoffenblum warns that McClintock has let the rush of publicity fool him into believing his chances are far better than they are.Not true. I don't see it.
McClintock's candidacy is asking the question. Why would you vote for a liberal Republican and not a conservative Republican. After all, the objective for conservatives is to triumph over liberalism. Not the other way around.
On Saturday, he was a headliner at a meeting of the Council for National Policy, a national conservative activist organization. The Colorado Springs, Colo., event netted more than $100,000 for his campaign, McClintock said.
We like Tom McClintock here in Colorado Springs and throughout Colorado. He's our kind of candidate. A principled consnervative and a Republican of conviction.

Its amazing how many people question McClintock's honesty as some other motive. People have gotten so used to lies and deceit, they can't even recognize it anymore. No doubt about it, this nation is so toast without overwhelming, undeniable supernatural intervention. On a scale that will have evil running for the hills, and the ignorant on their faces in repentance, worshipping Christ in Spirit and in Truth.

The latest poll shows Bustamante and Tom in a statistical dead heat - so it is now safe for conservatives to vote for either candidate - Tom or Arnold.

yep, that, and those pizza fundraisers in trailer parks. The man's got style, ya gotta admit.

We like Tom McClintock here in Colorado Springs and throughout Colorado. He's our kind of candidate Exactly! And I'm sure if he was running in Colorado, he could win, but he's NOT! He is running in Kalifornia, not Texas, not Utah, not South Carolina, not Virginia, not Oklahoma.

McClintock is MAGNIFICENT in his persistence and determination!!! Exactly what's needed desperately as Governor of California!!! God bless him for offering himself to everyone, even a sack full of ungrateful, verbose, formerly conservative FReepers!!!

To: Brian S
"I believe in the final days of the campaign we'll see a lot of voters who prefer me but doubt I can win coming back in droves," McClintock said. "The crowds have been phenomenal. They say, 'Don't you dare drop out, we need someone to believe in."'
Yeah, we don't need someone to win, just someone to believe in. And you know, isn't it just like that old saying, it isn't whether you win or lose, it's how you play the game that counts? I remember Khomeini telling the hordes of ten-year-olds something like that as he sent them out against Iraqi tanks armed with their powerful plastic keys to Paradise.
You can have the majority of a minority (social conservatives in California) and still lose to a minority of a majority (the portion of the liberals who actually vote). Tom doesn't seem to have cottoned onto this fact.
