"As lieutenant governor, a position he has held since January 1999, Bustamante is a member of the CSU board of trustees, which sets policy and makes budget decisions for Fresno State and 22 other state universities. As speaker of the Assembly, he also was a CSU trustee. Bustamante was speaker from December 1996 to February 1998. The lieutenant governor and speaker of the Assembly also serve on the Board of Regents for the University of California."
