Woman sues Swissair, city
Published September 28, 2003
TINLEY PARK -- An Arab-American woman from Tinley Park filed a federal suit Friday against the city of Chicago and Swiss International Airlines alleging racial profiling, use of excessive force and false imprisonment during her arrest at O'Hare International Airport after the terrorist attacks Sept. 11, 2001.
Anna Mustafa, a former Chicago Board of Education member, was arrested in December 2001 after allegedly claiming to have a bomb in her purse. A Cook County judge found her not guilty of disorderly conduct in November 2002, noting that she had been "loud, rude and confrontational" at a Swissair ticket counter but had not committed a crime.
Mustafa, who has lived in the United States for more than 40 years and was going to Tel Aviv to attend her father's funeral, contends in her civil suit that she underwent emotional distress in the arrest.
Testifying in her own trial last year, Mustafa said she was angry because she believed she was singled out because of her ethnicity.
IIRC Swissair folded. At least, their website is gone.
More than enough cause to throw her in jail in my book.
An Arab and an ex-member of the Chicago Board of Education. She's also a loud-mouthed trouble maker insinuating that she has a bomb.
