My son has seizures and his neurologist told him to stay away from marijuana. In fact, the son of a co-worker who also suffered from seizures, wanted to smoke weed. He did and had a seizure while drawing water for a bath and drowned.

Is there any evidence that smoking weed caused this seizure?

I see more of a connection to the drawing water for the bath to the drowning, than the act of smoking.
Perhaps those afflicted with seizures should restrict themselves to sitting showers, rather than being around larger quantities of water, where an attack might fatally submerge them.
