Use your brain. The cyclist was probably wearing biking cleats.

The majority of cyclists I encounter place the importance of getting their training in over the safety of others. I routinely encounter people who think it's ok to try and crowd me out of my lane so they can pass some mom and her kid without braking. Hell, most of them don't even have the courtesy to signal that they're passing them. I have taken a swipe at this type of ass**le before and will do so in the future. Why didn't you say that in the fist place, instead of vomiting bile? It would have made a lot more sense, and guess what?
I agree with you!

To which I respond: Hit and run.Are you actually advocating hit and run attacks on cyclists ?
To: RoughDobermann
Yeah, that's just rude. If I have to break my stride and slow down, I just chalk it up as an interval.
Doing anything that takes up the entire width of trail is asking for an asskicking or an injury ;)

when idoits on bicycles have to obtain a license, buy tags and pay insurance I will acknowledge their right to use the roadway that those who have jumped all those hurdles have. They paid for the road and its maintainence not the bike pukes.I won't go this far. I think bicyclists on the road are okay, but 1) They are there by OUR GOOD GRACES and 2) They should be careful not to purposefully tie up traffic.
If they accidently tie up traffic, I don't have a problem with that and I will be careful to avoid them. However, it's these militant Earth First EFF YOU SUV DRIVER-types I'd like to see with Firestone marks down their backs.

So what do you do if a car is slowing you down?

Are you actually advocating hit and run attacks on cyclists ?I would never advocate a crime. Was that fellow who states "Two words: Conceal Carry" advocating the shooting of hapless motorists?

RE: Kids just off training wheels. My wife and 4 kids ride a local trail hundreds of miles a year. I'm quite the annoying ride leader and agree with you about the little tykes. I watch a few hundred feet ahead of us for problems and when I see someone with kids, we slow our parade down, I make plenty of noise well before I get to them and tell my kids loudly to watch out for the new riders "Cause they're not watching for us."
As we go by, I always tell the new rider that they are doing a great job. Never ended up on my butt doing it that way.

There's a way around this problem with the bis (never heard that one before in this context) and the autos. Just get a horse and ride it to work. Their shiite would hit the fan, so to speak, when the bis hit the shiite. Cars would just get a little dirty. Car wash time!
And I hope no one would outlaw a sweet little horsey on the roadway. LOL!

I'm talking about inline skating, dumbass...

Only if it involved exercising my right to self-defense.

" do they not apply when automobiles crash into each other?"
I choose to surround myself with a ton of steel when I'm on the road. I have a much better chance of surviving an accident that way. The "Law" is helpful and necesary but making it your only defense is foolish.

Bile's more fun, man....
To: Lazamataz
I would never advocate a crime. Was that fellow who states "Two words: Conceal Carry" advocating the shooting of hapless motorists? You just did. Hit and run is a crime. The fellow who stated "conceal carry" was advocating self-defense should a driver attack him with a dangerous weapon (a car aimed at a cyclist on purpose which is what this thread is about).
You crossed the line, especially during this week.

It sounds like you train responsibly. I've probably said "On Your Left" 10 million times in my life. I've never had a close call with a skater. Now kids, losely leashed dogs...that's another story. There are times and places to go easy, then there is hammer time. I put in so many hours of training and effort getting ready for a race like the Ironman I'd be devastated to be taken out by some mean spirited person or a silly accident.

bang bangLook, unless you people want to see the streets look more reminiscient of Road Warrior than anything else, I'd back off of the constant refrain of pulling pistols. It's not like motorists don't have them too, and we can drive off faster after the dirty deed is done. But are we really looking to turn the streets into a Mohawk-wearing leather-clad Mad Max world where people are shooting from cars to bikes and bikes to cars?
Why don't cyclists just be a little more thoughtful about motorists and we'll try to do the same? And convince the center-of-the-lane bike a'holes that maybe they are in the wrong.

No surprise how you came by the 'toothless' moniker!
Google 'passive-aggressive' and see if anything rings a bell.
