The thing that astounds me is cyclist's complete reliance on "the law" to protect them from violating the laws the physics regarding mass and motion.

As a driver you rely on the "law" to protect you from the laws of physics regarding mass and motion. Or do they not apply when automobiles crash into each other?

I choose to surround myself with a ton of steel when I'm on the road. I have a much better chance of surviving an accident that way. The "Law" is helpful and necesary but making it your only defense is foolish.
