400 questions!???!!!

Who would give up a good job to go for one of these appointed positions? Perhaps the whole idea is to prevent the administration from getting the best people to take these jobs.

Recess Appointment as soon as the Senate recesses for the next holiday. That would put Leavitt in office until the end of the session which will be December of next year. By then the electon will have taken place. If Bush is the winner, then he can appoint him with the rest of his new cabinet for confirmation.

400 questions

That was the point which stood out to me as well. How often have they had unanswered questions of whatever number standing in the way of their decision?

Do the right thing - close the EPA down.

The Democratic boycott of Utah Gov. Michael Leavitt's nomination, which prevented the quorum needed to convene a hearing,

Looks like the dimocRATs are playing Texas style politics. If you can't have your way, just leave and break the quorum. Low life scumbags.

I am very fond of President Bush. I would be a lot fonder if he would threaten to dissolve the EPA if the democrats continue to dissolve quorums. I would fall in love if he actually did it.

"Do the right thing - close the EPA down. "

That sounds like a winner. If the Republicans don't stop this and stand up to the Democrats, they may as well forget appointing anyone to any office. Why they don't is puzzeling, frustrating, and infuriating.
