I think that all news SHOULD be archived, with credit given to the original source, of course, and in my opinion it comes under the heading of public service, which is what the library provides, free of charge.

Sure it is easier to search online, but it is relatively new technology in the overall scheme of things. As long as the usage remains non-commercial I think those items put out by news sources belong in the public domain, but that's just my opinion.

Revisionist history is nothing new. I read a short story by Edgar Allen Poe one time about a mummy that was discovered. An archeologist was examining it and it came to life. The "mummy" explained that he was put to rest to come back and set the historical record straight. That events are scarely properly recorded when they occur, let alone do they remain true to the events years, decades, and centuries later.

I agree. Printouts of the bookmarks would make a might thick folder in a vertical file in a public library.
