I believe Peter King has opened a door which needed to be opened.

Here is another excellent article along those lines:

What's Wrong with the CIA? (October Imprimis)

Excellent it is! Coming from a man with his credentials, it may raise some eyebrows on the right foreheads. Thanks for the link; it's a keeper.

I've been around FR for a while off and on, and I wasn't aware of the "hit" counter in the early days, but I've never really looked into such things either. I imagine you're correct in pointing out the likely huge number of lurkers out there. A comforting thought, eh?

...just by actively participating on a forum such as FR, and then taking what we learn here and passing it along as much as possible, we will reach many more people than we know.

Yeah; call me hardheaded, but I engage in verbal fisticuffs at every opportunity, usually instigated by....me. The people I work with will no longer engage me on Biblical principles or politics unless it's to sic me on an unsuspecting mark. The "Silver Fox" rarely lets 'em down.

Running the race,

On some threads, there might only be, say, 20 or 30 active posters with maybe 100 to 200 posts, but the total hits would be well over 1000 to 2000.

I'd give my unborn grandchildren to see the hit data.

To whom do I direct my groveling?

I don't know for sure, although you might try emailing Jim Robinson or the webmaster. (I think it's webmaster@freerepublic.com, but not sure.) My profile shows I've been a member since 1999, but actually I first signed up in 1997. There have been a couple of times in the past when, due to software problems, member registrations would be wiped out and you'd have to re-register. The hit counter disappeared during one of the site upgrades. Don't know why, unless it was just too difficult to tack one on to each article that was posted as the site grew. At least that makes sense to me.

Great article, "Striper," thanks for linking it to this thread. I think even the most casual observer can figure out that something is wrong with the CIA. Its performance over the last couple of years has been pretty bad. I'm not talking about the guys out in the field, like the ones who did directed fire assignments in Afghanistan and Iraq. But as an organization, the CIA has dropped the ball on everything from 9/11 to getting Osama bin Laden, to getting Saddam Hussein (they failed three times during the hot phase of the war this Spring), to making sure the President had precise, accurate information on the WMD. I just can't figure out why the President seems to have such faith in George Tenet when that faith seems to be unwarranted.

No problem.

I just can't figure out why the President seems to have such faith in George Tenet when that faith seems to be unwarranted.

IIRC there is a connection from his dad's days back at the Agency, there may be a loyalty angle to it. And as pure speculation, see my Post#30 on that thread.

I agree with you that the probable answer as to why GWB hasdn't dumped Tenet is loyalty — an admirable quality, but misplaced in this instance, in my opinion. There are some striking parallels between GWB and RWR, including their inherent decency, and their loyalty to and trust in their staffs.

HUMMMM this is interesting. Wilson is admitting that his wife (unnamed) sent him to Niger to prove that the info that British and american Intel had was wrong. NOW MAY I ASK THE OBVIOUS. Is there any doubt in anyones mind that he would come back with a different conclusion? His little treasonous action by him and his wifey didn't work, so he planted a story, there by sending the MSM pig rutting around for his wifes name. I think they may have wove themselves a web that is going to be difficult to get out of.

The MSM is about to get another Buckhead moment.

So it was a NONsecret secret. (ala Bill Clinton's affairs)

So EVERYONE knew Wilson's wife worked for the CIA.

If we take this to the logical extreme, the ONLY parties who did not know was the NYT. EVERYBODY in the cocktail and DC party circuit knew except those poooooor unfortunate GWBush hating souls at the NYT.

POoooooor Babies. It must really suck to be that stupid.

FNC should pick up on this thread instead of buying the NYT yellow journalism story.

I can see the headline: "NYT humiliated by internet amatures yet AGAIN!"
