CNN's Brown: 40-Year-Old Plame's Been with CIA for 30 Years

She started her CIA career at age 10? Wednesday night on CNN's NewsNight, anchor Aaron Brown passed along how former CIA operative Larry Johnson said Joe Wilson's wife "was in fact" an undercover agent "for 30 years." But a Wednesday Washington Post story pegged her age at 40.

So she is a lot older, or she started her undercover work while still in elementary school or Brown relayed some bad info.

Following a clip of Bob Novak from earlier in the day on Wolf Blitzer Reports, Brown proposed on the October 1 NewsNight: "We should add here, there is some dispute about whether Ms. Wilson was undercover or not. Mr. Novak, as you heard, says she was not. Others disagree, including Larry Johnson, a former CIA undercover employee, who says she in fact was for 30 years, until the leak."

I believe Johnson made that claim on Tuesday's PBS NewsHour. But Johnson's version of her career length is in conflict with her age as listed in an October 1 Washington Post profile of Joe Wilson by Richard Leiby:
"As the world now knows, Wilson is married to Valerie Wilson, nee Plame. She is his third wife. She is 40, slim, blonde and the mother of their 3-year-old twins. In the photos in his office, she has the looks of a film star. 'She is really quite amazing,' Wilson said. 'We were just discussing today who would play her in the movie,' he cracked."

Wilson seems to be eating up his 15 minutes of fame with comments such as the above. If anyone blew any cover..which sounds like there was no cover to blow; he is the one that brought attention to this little 'drip' of a senario. He is too petty a player to be a 'thorn' in Bush's side. This was his 15 minutes of fame. He was played like a fool. His usefulness will be over shortly and he most likely ruined his wife's career over it.

So the film, Agent Cody Banks, may be more documentary than fiction? And Hilary Duff can portray Ms. Plame in the film version of her life.

This is not a very potent straw to grab. I think there are more stronger cases to agitate that no investigation take place.

On the other hand, I very strongly feel, as Johnny Spann's dad does, that a full and comprehensive investigation should take place, and several federal prosecution of any wrongdoer[s], be they enemies of the Bush Administration or members of the Bush Administration. We are to be above the immoral and unethical behavior of the previous Administration of Clinton. We are not to be a bunch of liars and power hungry beasts, and I am sure President Bush does not want that to become his Administration or those who draw a salary, be it West Wing, EOB, OEOB, Foggy Bottom, Pentagon or Langley.

It was revealed (just today on national radio) that the young lady in fact went into the 'Ops' (clandestine service) side of CIA as a recruit in the 1985 class. Accordingly, it is technically true that she worked there as an operative (could be an anaylst later, but still called for her cover to be protected) in the three decades of the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.
