hard to tell where this will go. but consider that unless the entire story is a total fabrication, Rush is currently a person who has to take a bunch of these pain killers every day, not to get high, but probably for a chronic pain condition for which his drs could/would not provide adequate medication. and that goes on, day after day, you just don't stop using these kinds of drugs cold turkey.

It is hard for me to believe. If Rush had or was taking lots of narcotics he could not do the radio show he does. I spent 35 years in Radio. I have thousands of air hours. Believe me, you can't do drugs and get ratings on the air doing talk radio. It is like trying to be a great athlete while stoned. It is impossible.

But even if Rush did do drugs there is no need for him to buy black market. A rich celebrity can get tons or prescription drugs legally. Remember Elvis? Legal prescription narcotics killed Elvis. There are tons of Dr. Feel goods. Everyone near or close to show business knows of them. If Rush wanted narcotic prescription drugs... a phone call to a legal Dr. Feel good would have them to him all nice and legal in no time.

I doubt if Rush has taken a lot of Narcotic prescription drugs. If you have ever tried to do what Rush does live on the air, you will find you can't do drugs and do even bad talk radio.

In one of the towns where I had a radio station a local pharmacist was involved in illegal distribution of narcotic prescription drugs. His cover was a real pharmacy. I often had prescriptions for me and my family filled at that pharmacy. When they caught him, they could not tell from his records which prescriptions were legal and which ones were forgeries. I had a badly broken leg that required installation of an 8 inch length of titanium between my hip and knee. There were 3 total operations and it was hugely painful. The Dr. prescribed powerful narcotics for me during this period. My wife had them filled at this pharmacy because it was on the drive home.

When the Narks raided the place they took the records and checked on me. I never knew if the law checked everyone who had narcotic prescriptions or just people like me, who had multiple narcotic prescriptions over time.

I do know they checked with my orthopedic surgeon and my regular Doctor who confirmed that my use was legitimate.

I don't know but I suspect it had to do with prescriptions issued to Rush when he had his ear operations. The stories said he was mentioned in the probe and referred to him as the deaf Rush Limbaugh.

I can point out that I was mentioned in the probe of a drug ring involving a pharmacy whose cover was a legit pharmacy. After each of the 3 operations on my leg and hip, I took narcotic pain killers for 2 weeks until the pain went down to a bearable level.

I was never an addict and have not taken anything stroner than asperin in years. My eldest Daughter was dating a medical student at the time (now her husband). His father and mother are Doctors. They and He urged ne to take the pain pills. They said I could hurt my chances of a good recovery by trying to tough out the pain.

I think the fact that Rush said he had not been contacted by the law, says a lot. The law never contacted me either. It was my local MD who told me the cops had checked me out.
