I should have thought of actually looking it up. I didn't realize that fifth column started then.

Thanks for posting this.

Easy: Kennedy just passes out, and Byrd has so many sheets that he never needs a blanket.

Since Kay made his report and mentioned botulism found in Iraq, some Freepers who are opposed to the war in Iraq, have tried to downplay the find of botulism by saying "it's even found in baby food".

Then I guess they wouldn't mind doing a little taste testing of what Kay found to tell us that it's really not that bad?

I'm sorry ... but that is the lamest argument I've heard

Only what's been posted on this thread. He made mention of the botulism found in Iraq - other clear violations of UN resolutions.

fifth column
Online Brittanica says:
"clandestine group or faction of subversive agents who attempt to undermine a nation's solidarity by any means at their disposal. The term is credited to Emilio Mola Vidal, a Nationalist general during the Spanish Civil War (1936–39). As four of his army columns moved on Madrid, the general referred to his militant supporters within the capital as his “fifth column,” intent on….. "

I thought it was Napoleon who said it but maybe not !

Post #92 gives the dictionary definition. The term was first used by Spanish Caudillo and SNL Star Generalissimo Francisco Franco, who had four columns marching on Madrid and publicly boasted that he had a "fifth column" inside the city.

In this connection, the comment that the Fourth Estate has become a fifth column is spot on. The 'Rats and their allies in the press have become fascists, in my opinion. Their mindset closely resembles Mussolini and Franco -- anti-military bias notwithstanding.
