[history]
The final Field Poll of the election is out this morning, and the numbers look bleak for Davis. The recall is leading 57-39 among likely voters, a sample Field describes as 43 percent Democrat and 38 percent Republican. Schwarzenegger has a big lead over Bustamante, 36-26, with McClitnock at 16, and 22 percent undecided.

What everyone will remember about the last two days is that the LA Times and ABC News are political dirty-tricks machines (as opposed to legitimate news organizations). From now on, any time these two organizations run a story on a political figure, it will be very hard not to think, "What is their agenda?"

Hasta La Vista Grey Davis! Whooooo!!!
Governor Schwarzenegger will be reality- despite the left wing media attacks, McClintock and without the help of Washington Republicans. He is to be applauded.

Agreed. In this case the media got too clever. By timing these stories to come out on Thursday they opened themselves up to the question of why, if these stories are so important, they had to wait until a few days before the election to air them? Why not sooner to give the public more opportunity to consider the charges in a calm and rational manner?
The answer can only be that then Arnold would have had a chance to respond and recover or the GOP would have had a chance to settle on a different candidate. I think Arnold will get a bounce from these stories and I think the reputation of the LA Times will have taken a big hit. The one apologizing and explaining things over the next few days will not be Arnold, it'll be the LA Times and ABC News.

Susan Estrich, a flaming feminist liberal was outraged at the LA Times for the timing of this story. She said they have had this for a while and sat on it. The responsible and proper thing (journalisticly) to do would have been to run the story early in the campaign.
Alan Colmes went on to claim that the LA Times was so pro Arnold that it was way over the top in their support of Arnold. Susan was shocked that Alan could make such a statement and asked him what drugs he was on. She made it clear to Alan that he was living in fantasy land and that the LA Times was the biggest supporter of Davis to be found in the media.
