Coming from Mexico, China, Haiti and many other countries, the immigrants are seeking to persuade lawmakers in Washington to, among other things, grant legal status to more than 8 million immigrants. There is already a right way to pursue legal immigration status - you apply at INS office or US consulate.

I would like to take a moment to ask for donations.
It should be clear to all conservatives by now that the left intends to demonize us. They don't just disagree with us, they hate us. And worse, they want to get other people to hate us.
Places like Free Republic drive the left batty.
Please donate. Thanks for your consideration.

The demonstrators called for granting legal status to illegal immigrants unacceptable
for creating more family reunification visas
Unacceptable with the job losses here.
and for increased workplace protections for immigrants because they are often exploited on the job.
Eliminate the H1-B visas instead.
In addition, the demonstrators called for an end to civil liberty violations against immigrants,
Legal immigants, yes. Illegals need to go home.
complaining that many law-abiding immigrants have faced harassment and detentions since the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks.
Charge them or release them.

Yes, this could become the next big civil rights movement...bigger than the last one....and the party that helps make it happen will get millions of votes for decades or generations. The party that sticks to the word of the law will be the loser, unfortunately. Does that scenario sound about right?

At least they included Mark Krikorian in the article.

The problem here is those who break the law have no "civil rights" as they are not citizens. There should be no "movement" except back to Mexico. Now that they feel empowered enough to come into the light from the shadows what will they do when they decide to take their "rights" by force? They outnumber citizens 10 to 1 in some communities, what's stopping them now?

The only way to get Bush to wake up about the illegals is for a terrorist to cross the border with the Mexicans and explode a dirty bomb in the middle of Dallas.
What 9/11 has taught us is that American politicians react to disasters, and until something horrific happens in our southern cities nothing will happen with illegal immigration.

What 9/11 has taught us is that American politicians react to disasters, and until something horrific happens in our southern cities nothing will happen with illegal immigration. Close. The politicos won't give a damn until a nice big liberal city on the East or West Coast gets vaporized. The hix in the stix of flyover country are expendable in the eyes of the media, but watch them howl when their own backyard is glowing. So I doubt that nuking a Red Zone place like Dallas would be a sufficient b*tch-slap for a lot of people.

Why the hell don't they march for their rights in Mexico City? Because Mexico City told them to march for their rights in the USA.
