According to military historian Thomas Fleming, "This is the most critical statement by one senior military officer on the record on the conduct of another in the history of the United States armed forces."

Oh I dunno, maybe a little hyperbole there.. There has been a lot of animosity between many military leaders in the past.

Example:
"Quite ignorant for his rank, and quite bigoted in his ignorance."
Gen. Winfield Scott on Zachary Taylor

A DUMB officer is less dangerous to his fellow troops than one that has "questions of character and integrity"... you may actually be able to get the dumb commander of the unit next to you to coordinate fire, communications and movements... but what if you can't trust what he says?

Loved your quote on Taylor!
