Orange County is using optical scanner for this election. March we will be using something called an e-slate machine. I saw one in July and IMO they s**k. If you get easily confused by electronic gadgets, you will be confused by the screen.

We have used eSlates in Harris County (Houston), Texas for a year now, and, while I was initially skeptical, I now have high confidence in them for many reasons that I won't elaborate on in this thread. The essential thing is to have friendly poll workers help explain the system to voters, particularly computer-shy voters, the first few times. FReepmail me if I can answer any questions about those machines.

Apparently only parts of Orange Co. have this optical scanner. As discussed in posts previously, here in No. Orange County, we had a single-sheet large paper ballot.
