There are only half as many polling places for this special recall election as there are for a general election. That makes the lines bigger. Throw in the complicated ballot which needs explaining and the lines of waiting voters will be still longer.

All the same polling places are open in my area. We also use punchcard machines. No explanations necessary.
Even if other polling places were closed, the actual turnout still far exceeds a 50% increase over the normal amount.
