After the BS the groupies (not all Arnold backers, but they know who they are) threw at McClintock(none of it issues based), you better believe I'll rub it in, right after I pick apart the programs themselves as my reason to rub it in. As for merits to leftist programs, there are none. That's why they are leftist.

That said, I hope there are no leftist programs, but I'm not expecting much.

66% of "conservative vote went to Schwarzenegger.
11% went to Bustamante (go figure).
Assume remainder (23%) went to McClintock and account for all of his 12-13% of total vote.

If approximately 1/4th of total conservative equals 12 1/2% of total vote, then the conservatives accounted for approximately 50% of the total vote.

Conservatives can win statewide. There were enough conservative voters for McClintock to win, however, 2/3rds of them choose the "safe" route, which is, I guess, what some conservative voters tend to do. If McClintock receives 66% of the conservative votes instead of Schwarzenegger, maybe he wins.

Lets see how poorly the winners behave? True character will shine through.

Arnold won, Congratulations to all his supporters and to the Governor.

Tom did not give the election to Cruz, interesting – who said he would?

California is free of Greyout Davis! Biggest win of all. The man supported by Clinton, Gore and the 9 dwarfs hit the dirt!

Way to go California!

Thankfully the majority of California voters were not stupid. Thankfully the majority of conservatives votes for Arnold.

And had Tom dropped from the race last week or last month, Arnold just needed 130,000 of Tom's 492,000 wasted votes to win, even with the other 360,000 going to Bustamante.

No, you showed no grace, no goodwill, no decency throughout. You were not 'right'.

I'm a very bad man! I'm mean and ornery. Mothers grab their children and cross the street when they see me come. I'm also a conservative and I've also called each turn of these events perfectly. Perfectly right, that is! I truly enjoy your bitterness.

But under your scenario, the conservative agenda would have been nowhere to be found in the race.

"McX and AS would have split the republican (minority) vote, and bustamecha would have won."

ah yess you have hit on the real agenda at work here.
and they are sticking around to pout about it....

He should have curbed his ego and made the same speech a month ago.

Many of us asked him not to. I glad he stayed in and keep Arnold closer to the right.

If only everyone had written-in Pope John Paul II for governor, we coulda had a real conservative win, but no!

I'm not the least bit 'bitter'.

It's one more election. Big deal. There are more next month, and more again next spring, and more again next fall.

It's amazing how so-called conservatives have turned on Tom McClintock with ravenous gusto. You'd think someone who is one of us would get a little more respect, but I guess winning at all costs supercedes loyalty and ethics. We must have some closet liberals here at FreeRepublic.

I thought from watching Tom's supporters that the price of liberty was wasting one's vote and dooming oneself to eternal insignificance while hoping the leftists win in order to win a political point or two.

A lot of Kennedys in the background, huh?
One of them, to Arnold's left, looked like William Kennedy Smith.
Sergeant Shriver (Democrat Vice Presidential candidate in 1972) and Eunice Kennedy Shriver.
Interesting company he keeps, don't you think?

The closet door's standing wide open, and the light's on.

If someone can't see who they are, they either have blinders on, or are blind.

Yes, he is. Taking shots at your party frontrunner and saying the Dem line the weekend before, thereby playing spoiler pretty much qualifies as a hostile act

If Arnold the RINO is my party's frontrunner then my party has obviously lost its mind. Man, Freepers backing a liberal and condemning a principled conservative: DU must be infecting this place or else it's a sign of the apocalypse. Either way it's nauseating.
