I'd gladly share a foxhole with someone who was willing to be there -- or, since I'm a sailor, I'd gladly serve on a damage control party with someone who wants to be there -- he's likely to do a much better job than someone, say you, who wishes he were at home watching football.

How is putting one's life on the line cheaper than being born to it? You are a citizen by dint of birth; you didn't have to do squat to get that privilege. This guy is willing to go through Hell to earn that citizenship -- and somehow that's "cheaper" in your eyes. Uh-huh.
