The Declaration of Indepedence was rendered a dead letter by the first Republican president.
Mr. Lincoln settled the issue for the 1860's to the extent that "might makes right", at least for a while. The pen is still mightier than the sword, and "write" will be "right" in the end. It will take less than 150 years to prove Lincoln wrong, and the "writ"ing of the Declaration will once again prove to be "right".

It will take less than 150 years to prove Lincoln wrong, and the "writ"ing of the Declaration will once again prove to be "right".My own hope is that the collapse of America's experiment with socialism need not be as severe economically as the Soviet Union's. I wouldn't mind a peaceful breakup so long as free trade between the States is maintained. Even a return to a federal republic of States would be fine, if a device to limit government could be fashioned. The first has failed from sheer ignorance and greed.
