Jerry Agar read this on his radio show today and I thought it was good enough to post for perusal.

His plan is simple. Create 5 million new government jobs playing computer solitaire.

Oh, cripes, a trial lawyer promising to create "new" jobs. One can just imagine what those jobs will be. More lawyers to file more lawsuits, more clerks to type up the paperwork for those lawsuits, more process servers to hand out the papers, more bean counters to collect the judgements, etc. An economy based on lawsuits, just what we need.

The thing I would like to know is just exactly how these Democrats propose to magically create millions of jobs. Other than allowing the private sector to generate the jobs as the free market dictates what exactly would they do to create jobs. How for example is increasing taxes on businesses and business owners going to "create" jobs?

I wish the press would call these morons on these claims just once in a while.

Edwards is a Trial Lawyer who's profession kills jobs. How ironic that a Trial Lawyer from NC can talk about jobs when his kind damaged RJR that led to another 1000+ layoffs last month.

BTW big UNC crisis in the news today. 375 layoffs. 365 'open / unfill'ed roles eliminated, 10 real layoffs. This makes front page news to the liberals...

4.9 million of those jobs will be picking up the trash along the North Carolina highways.

Hate to post and run fellow Freepers but I'm off to a Hillsdale College Conference about the Constitution hosted by the Jesse Helms Center.

No computer at the hotel so I'll check back on this thread tomorrow night when I return.

Does anyone know where the 2.7 million job loss number comes from? I look at these statistics a lot on BLS.com and the civilian employment when Bush was inaugurated was 137,846,000 and it is now 137,573,000; for a net loss of 273,000. Even if you take the highest point to the lowest point, you don't get to the 2.7 million number, yet I hear it from all the Democratic candidates and no one objects. What's up?

Of course the creation of 5 million jobs is pure fantasy. No one can do that. It takes time and a lot of small actions by millions of ordinary people to do that. John Edwards has probably killed more jobs than he ever created.

Promises by politicians are cheap and these numbers can be unverifiable. Hell, I'll take the Edward's $5M and raise it $5M. See, that was easy.

A pretty good size crew could be employed full time, just to follow John Edwards around and clean up the manure he is spreading.

To put 5 million people to work, he would have to expand the NBA to 500,000 teams. After all, in North Carolina everything is measured by basketball.

Sen. John Edwards blames President George Bush for the net loss of almost 2.7 million jobs during his tenure in the White House.

And, this citizen blames a recession that began in 2000 when the "smoke and mirror" economy of the 1990s collapsed---compounded by an attack on our homeland that was in part aimed at maulling our economy.

Go do what you were born to do, Sen. Edwards---comb your hair!

Here's a good one. Similar attacks could be levelled at Kerry, Lieberman.
