That, in a nutshell, is what governments do.
Let's face the fact that everything that is really a crime has been legislated against long ago. Now in order to justify themselves, government at all levels has to continually split hairs finer and finer, laying new levels of law and regulation on us.
To me, the classic example of our goobermint springing into action to save us from calamity and chaos is this damn Do Not Call list.
Imagine people so stupid and desperate to be saved and led to the promised land, people so berift of imagination that they can't shake a simple phone call.
These are the folks who need saving from SHS, from Big Scarey Trucks, from SUVs, from cell phones.
Feckless sheep begging to be sheared and not caring one whit if we get sheared right along with them, in fact insisting that we line up with them.
I hate them.
oops! Hate speech, something else we need to be saved from.
Heck, in Las Vegas they are so concerned that you might get up to get smokes and not come back to the table that they now give complimentary packs of cigarettes to players along with the free drinks.
Very true. My chimney sweep goes to Las Vegas every year. He says all you have to do is tip the waitress well, and she is forever by your side handing you free drinks AND free cigarettes. Can't beat that with a stick!
WAY too many! And working out of the State House in Augusta is the Maine Coalition which in turn, developed the Partnership For A Tobacco Free Maine. These people are the ones pushing for higher cigarette taxes, larger smoking bans and more control of the smokers.
And all the while they remain, they are feeding at the trowel from the Tobacco Settlement Money which WE SMOKERS are PAYING for 100%!
Not the Government and NOT Big Tobacco! WE THE SMOKERS. I can't believe more Maine smokers aren't aware of this and all of us should be up in arms over the chitty treatment the Maine Coalition is giving us.
The Guv HATES SMOKERS, but I don't see where he is pulling it from the SHELVES, do you????
Unless you're at the high-end Strip places, average tipping will do! When I am in LV I stay and play at The Orleans and a buck for each drink or pack is usually quite well received. (Actually, that's probably above average for The Orleans, which is a full-service resort that serves a mostly middle-class clientele.) I got over the Strip experience a long time ago and generally just go there for touristy stuff if I'm in LV with a first-timer, and also some shows and nightclubs. You can play a better game for less money off-strip and it's way less crowded. The same goes for downtown, but downtown is dingier and has some, shall we say, colourful characters. It takes a very good promotion to get me to play on the Strip.
Well, what's being a heavy smoker got to do with having our rights taken way.
We are working very hard here in Maine to get this word out, that SMOKERS NEED TO TAKE BACK THEIR RIGHTS.
We are tired of the liberals in this state kicking smokers in the teeth all the while having their hands in our wallets. This has gotten WAY out of hand!
Check out the Smoker's Newletter, put out weekly by a gal in southern Maine. I think you will find it interesting. And for heaven's sake, pass it on to your family!!!
