Still figuring it out...looks like a brawl over a close pitch?
How did Zimmer end up in the middle? Came someone give us the condensed version?

Actually, if you were watching the game you'd know that this was Pedro Martinez' fault. He's the one who hit a Yankee on the back (would have been the head if he hadn't ducked). Clemens hit no one.

Pedro is a punk...
To: GOPrincess
Started the inning before - Pedro hit a Yankee (forgot who). Clemens put one high and slightly tight in on Manny, who started swearing and headed towards the mound... the benches cleared, and Zimm went straight at Pedro and tried a wide hook, and Pete thru him to the ground... UGLY.

Pedro then looked at the Yankee bench and pointed to his head several times, saying something I couldn't make out. The announcers were adamant that Pedro was way out of line and was threatening to hit people in the head.

What was Zimmer thinking?
To: saquin
clemens is always head-hunting. he just happened to miss this time.
To: Cacophonous
Pedro instigated all this nonsense, first with the pitch and then with his pointing and jabbering at the Yankees. Even if Zimmer had gone toward him with ill intent, you still don't throw a 72-year old man on the ground. What a jerk.
Am I'm rooting for the Red Sox. Oddly Clemens didn't do anything wrong this time.

Except he didn't start it. Why blame him instead of the person in the middle of all this, which is Pedro?

Pedro Martinez hit a NY batter. (The pitch was head-high and behind him.) He taunted the batter by pointing to his own head several times. Next inning, Clemens threw high and a bit inside, NY batter went ballistic. Both benches cleared. Zimmer charged at Pedro with his left hand raised. Pedro deflected him and pushed him down doing so.

I wish the camera angle would have shown us Zimmer's face, not Pedros. I'd love to know what he said and what his body language was showing.
