"When I was elected, I swore an oath to uphold the Constitution, and that means I have to represent all the people of all faiths in my district." It seems to me that Lassa can resolve this matter simply by resigning or by joining some Church whose teachings do not bind her conscience. Baptismal vows have precdendent over her oath to the Constitution.

Lassa won her seat by a VERY slim margin against a fairly conservative (R). Stevens POint is about 100% Polish Catholic--this may be enough to push her out in the '04.
