Note the absence of Dario Cardinal Castrillon de Hoyos from the list: JP II's cardinalitial jack-of-all trades and highly papabile.

Note also Allen's whistling past the graveyard as to Arinze: JP II's health is now stable and maybe Arinze will be too old.

Likely not. Allen has published a book on the succession to JP II, and Hoyos is not highly regarded by his fellow cardinals. Plus, he's 75, definitely too old.

Note also Allen's whistling past the graveyard as to Arinze: JP II's health is now stable and maybe Arinze will be too old.

If the cardinals want a Pope who will serve ten years or more, they're likely to choose someone in his 60s.
