Purgatory? If theses priests, bishops, cardinals were engaging in satanic rituals they made their pact with satan not God and I doubt they are headed toward Heaven even after a cleansing in Purgatory.
Worshiping satan is blaspheming the Holy Spirit so would be the unforgivable sin.

I recommend you read some Lewis starting with the Screwtape Letters. You’ve already stated the premise.
Over the years I think I have read virtually every detail of what he describes, in one place or another.
And it has always seemed to me that Cardinal Bernardin was the very epicenter of those evil subversions within the Church in America—and probably Cardinal Bugnini in Rome.
There were other bishops who more openly and flagrantly violated the laws and teachings of the Church. But that was because Bernardin was extremely clever, while some of those other bishops were too dumb to hide what they were up to.
None of this changes my belief in the truth of the Catholic Church and its teaching. But there has, indeed, been the smoke of Satan in the Church, and sadly, many have been driven away from the truth by these evil people.
It has been said that the floor of Hell is paved with the skulls of bishops. Because much is demanded of those who accept that office. Their chief sin has been the loss of souls due to the ignorance and confusion that has followed their failure to teach the truth as they are sworn to do.
