Non-Christian Franciscans!? (Scary Incident While Waiting to Enter Rotunda)
myself | 6/10/2004 | Pyro7480

Posted on 06/10/2004 8:46:27 AM PDT by Pyro7480

In the early morning hours today, 10 June, I was waiting in line with thousands of other mourners on the National Mall in Washington, DC to enter the Capitol Rotunda to pay our respects to our beloved former President, Ronald Reagan. As I entered the queue, I saw two women dressed in Franciscan habits, or at least what I thought were Franciscan habits. As the passed by me in the other direction, I asked to join them in their part of the line. I was wearing a crucifix around my neck which I showed to them. I asked them what religious congregation they were members of. They initial said Third Order Franciscans. I thought it was a bit odd that Third Order Franciscans were wearing habits (they did so in the past, but not often recently). They said they were from Switzerland, and they talked with thick German Swiss accents. The two of them had short hair (to be blunt, butch). One of them called herself "Reverend" and I later noticed that she had a "Roman" collar on.

As I talked to them, and as a UPI correspondent interviewed them for a story she was doing about the people lining upm I gathered that they weren't Catholic at all. They explained that they were from a group called "The Brotherhood of Humanity," and that they were in at least 60 countries worldwide. Their national HQ is in the DC area. After the one "nun" gave her a card that had their "moral compass" on it, I asked for a copy for myself. Since it was past midnight, I had a hard time reading it at first. I saw Matthew 5:16 on the top of the card, and a quote from Handhi a the bottom. But as we past in area lit by flood lamps, I read the "fine print" on the card. It stated that that the card was printed by:
"The Brotherhood of Humanity: The Third Order Franciscan World Mission Endeavour of The Universal Church - The Church for a new World Order. It also gave their mailing address and e-mail address for the organization.

After hearing all of this, I pretty much stopped talking to them. Later, two individuals who were behind me came up to them, with the same thought as I had at first about them. One of them, a woman in her late twenties, ended up talking to them for quite some time as we moved closer to the Capitol. She was/is in the Legion of Mary, and she was on fire! She tried hard to evangelize them. I assisted her at a few points. This "Brotherhood," apparently, don't believe in the Holy Trinity. Instead, they believe in a dualistic "God" who is both Father and Mother. She ended up giving one of them her Miraculous Medal. As the two "nuns" progressed ahead of us in the line, I ended up talking to the young woman for the rest of the time we were there.

In a sleep-deprived state today, I did a Google search for this organization. All I could find in my search so far is the following link: The World Foundation for Natural Science

In this modernistic age, there are definitely some scary manifestations of the peversion of Christian religion. This is one of them.

I found it interesting that these two "nuns" were going to pay their respects to Reagan!

What a disgrace to the seraphic St. Francis, whose name has been usurped by a pagan organization. Thank God for the fellow Legion member (and for your assistance)!

As I said to the other guy who was with the Legion of Mary member, "St. Francis supported the Crusades, and tried to convert the Sultan of the time!" At the end of their discussion, one of the "nuns" said to the Legion of Mary member, "You have given me a lot to digest." Let us pray that her evangelization bears fruit!

What a strange encounter. I have never heard of this cult. Surprised they were in line to pay respect to a conservative like Reagan?

Thanks for posting this. It might seem strange stuff but it's no surprise here on this end; it's everywhere and drives much of what's going on in the Church.

Why would anyone be surprised they'd be in line to pay respect to a conservative?

OMG! I was next in line after them. There's no way we didn't meet. I was with a tall woman with long, dark curly hair who chewed their ears off for a good hunk of the wait. (She's looking into becoming a real nun and was trying to evangelize them into the RCC.)

Silly me, I didn't read the rest of your article before writing my first post... That "Woman who was on fire" was the woman I was there with!

Were you talking to a young man who was wearing a dress shirt and navy blue dress pants about St. Francis of Assisi and the Crusades at some point?

"I found it interesting that these two "nuns" were going to pay their respects to Reagan!"

I wouldn't be surprised if, while they're out here, these "nuns" aren't invited to give workshops and even homilies with the blessing of some bishops.

Hehehe... Yup... I just checked out your web page... I remember you talking about the guy from your home state of Delaware who rode his horse from Dove to Philly.
