Yes, going to Holy Mass here is, well, another experience that is for sure. There are those who will kneel during the consecration on the little "chair kneelers" (although I cannot recall if the monks do-----I wouldn't look).
The Altar is, IMO, nothing more than a giant looking jack-in-the-box. Yeah, the "worship space" is very nice that is for sure, but I would rather go to Holy Mass somewhere that LOOKS more like a place which is built for the Holy Sacrifice.
You are correct about the heretical monks (some, not all, and they have done great damage). If these heretics have ever read an encyclical on the Holy Eucharist it was to point out where a Holy Father was "wrong".
Much, much damage has been done by this place. However, the soon-to-be-retiring Archabbot Lambert has done very well in the name of Holy Mother Church. To turn this aircraft carrier on a dime will take a very long time.
[huge sigh] LONG way to go yet.
I do like the tabernacle "chapel" - other than its hidden location.
Ten years ago they also had a very nice old smaller chapel that I think has since been ripped apart.
But my favorite thing at the abbey is the old chapter room with the colorful murals (done by a European monk).
