The purpose of the gospel becomes going out to discover who are the elect.

But there is no urgency or necessity to do so.

The purpose of the gospel becomes going out to discover who are the elect.

But since WE can't tell the wheat from the tares, what difference does it make? We can't "discover" the elect by preaching the gospel, only God knows who they are, so what is the purpose of calling them out? They can't be "saved". They can't be "discovered." You don't even need to be "elect" to preach the gospel and call these people in (as witnessed by the fact that most Calvinists on this forum were called to the gospel by Arminian/Semi-Pelagian heretics).

So what really is the purpose in all this?
