Followers of eastern and far eastern religions are often portayed as passive and in western society by the media as liberal in ideaology. Religions such as Hinduism, Bhuddism, and the philosophies of the far east represent a minority in western nations and are stereotyped accordingly.
Just as the leftist media portrays devout and mainstream forms of christianity as radical and fundamentalist so are the religions of the east and far east portrayed as progressive and liberal in nature.
As a conservative and a follower of Krishna, I often ponder if the concepts of right and left in this country are mistakingly applied by the popular media. I feel comfortable with the combination of my political and religious beliefs, it works for me.
I however often feel that even fellow conservatives share a view that if one is not of judaeo-christian ideaology then one cannot be a conservative. I am writing to say that this assertion is wrong, and to make aware among conservatives that the same diversity that the democrats boast of exists just as much in the republican ranks.
Political Conservatism doesn't emphasize race, color, religion, especially in modern day America.
