For the discernment of fellow Catholics

Posted on 12/31/2004 10:52:12 PM PST by St. Johann Tetzel

I was told the following account this morning 12/31/04, by a close personal friend who works with the priest mentioned below. I offer this solely for the discernment of fellow Catholics, and I'm hoping for further verification of this story. I have met the priest who related this story. He is known in the USA and Rome.

According to this priest, an American woman, A Roman Catholic (who is not publicly known, she is a housewife and lives in the midwest USA) was extremely upset 2 weeks prior to the recent Asian earthquake and tsunamis. The priest who related this story was aware of her fears PRIOR to the events this past week and therefore believes her to have some legitimacy.

According to this priest, this woman "knew" that a massive earthquake and tsunamis were going to strike in Southeast Asia 2 weeks prior to the event. She was so distraught that she pleaded to be taken to Rome to see the Pope to warn him of the impending disaster in Asia. She was taken to Rome, but I'm not sure from what I was told whether she was able to meet with him.

This priest is also aware of what she has seen coming for America. He said it was so horrific that he would not discuss it further. He simply said, "Be ready to go at any moment."

I believe he would not have related these issues if he had not personally known that she had foreknowledge of the recent quake and tsunamis.

Again, I offer this solely for the discernment of fellow Catholics. I'm hoping for further verification of this story, or refutation of same.

In all my years of following Marian messages and different "prophecies", etc, I've never heard of any "coming true" exactly as described, and I've almost always dismissed such tales immediately. However, this gives me pause. I know who this priest is, he's completely sane and trustworthy. Feel free to reject or ridicule this story, or post any constructive criticism, wisdom, or input you like.

It would be folly, however, to think that the USA is immune to such disasters, and even greater folly to think we are not deserving of chastisement because of the murder of the innocent and mocking disregard for God's Law that animates this country's pop culture and parts of its government.

"Be ready to go at any moment", like be ready to pack up and move to safety at any moment, or be ready to kiss your a$$ goodbye and meet your master at any moment....

Still be interesting to hear what she had to say about America. I think the priest involved is doing wrong by not repeating the story.

Some rather convincing scenarios include a smaller surviving population.

As far as it being time to go, well, that can happen any second, and is simply the just wage of Sin. To "die to sin" is not possible in this world, at least not for me or anyone I know. To die with the Lord, to rise with the Lord, is not a mere metaphor for some sort of worldly experience. Saint Paul was not talking about some sort of smooch fest no matter what the Liberals say.

Looking forward to Purgatory. No Sin can enter Heaven, and to be finally free from sin is cheap at any price.

I'm a sucker for these stories, but like you, I have never heard of any of them coming true. And it's always afterward we hear that somebody knew about it and tried to warn us - but nobody listened.

And what would we do different anyway? I think we have become jaded to all the catastrophic predictions.

She is not the only one who was saying this might/would happen. Check out the stories in the link below:

He has more sense. He doesn't want to be ridiculed.

These "ex post facto" revelations that we are suddenly hearing about remind me of those who "knew" that 9/11 was going to happen. Arm-chair prophets emerge after every major disaster.

I agree. Plus I'm cynical and disregard all this nonsense.

Yet, I know this priest, and his work. You would too, as would most Catholics on this forum.

That is the ONLY reason I posted this, knowing full well your points here. Otherwise I would have laughed off this story too.

I'd like to know more about this. So many don't come true and this is related after-the-fact.

Still, I firmly believe these warnings happen. The problem with publishing them in advance is one of credibility and causing panic.

If all this is true, the lady should not have gone to Rome with it. That's the worst thing to do. They get nutty stuff all the time and would never take her seriously. I'd call the FBI or post a warning on the internet before I'd go to Rome.

I don't mean this as a slam against Rome or priests as I have recently begun attending church again. I know there are just some things priests don't take seriously. They probably get stuff like this all the time.

I also would not go on coast to coast with anything like that either.

I'm not a Catholic but I find this to be interesting.

"This priest is also aware of what she has seen coming for America. He said it was so horrific that he would not discuss it further. He simply said, "Be ready to go at any moment." "

I have my doubts on what she thought would happen in Asia but the next "vision" if you will, concerning the U.S. is a GIVEN. It's just a matter of time till we have a nuclear attack.

St. Johann Tetzel,This is 3rd person report.A good way to find out if a prediction is true is have the person write it down and date it.They should put it in a sealed envelope and give it to a priest.Going to Rome was not going to stop the event.I doubt Father would have said we will get a worst fate if he is a national personality and if he did then he lacks prudence.

We all know that. Possibly this woman thought the Pope would issue some kind of warning. That would have been incredibly naive on her part, unfortunately. There are lots of nutcases who say all kinds of crazy stuff.

I doubt Father would have said we will get a worst fate if he is a national personality

This makes no sense to me. However, he would have been lacking in prudence if he had publicized her warning prior to the tsunamis, because 99.9999% of such warnings are nonsense.

In this case, he knew her warning beforehand, and saw her warning come true 2 weeks later. Based on this, he shared the experience with a close friend of mine.

That's all I know, and I fully realize that it is not very credible based on the anonymity of the source. However, I felt I should pass it along.

Frankly, I think more Catholics expect natural disasters and economic collapse than nuclear attack or invasion. Unlike Europe and other western countries, there are still many faithful Christians in America, which may mitigate the chastisement due for all these crimes that cry out to God for vengence.

In matters like this a priest should repeat nothing of what he hears.

I disagree. If the warning is of God, then He gave it for a reason.

And what would we do different anyway?

Many have become weary from all the scandals and the malfeasance of the US hierarchy. I know I did for a while, to the point of not even wanting to go to Divine Liturgy.

Sometimes God's people need a wake up call. Scripture is full of such.

If it snaps a soul or two out of complacency and back into fervent belief and practice of the faith, then it was worth it.

I've decided to go back to attending daily Divine Liturgy, or a local mass on days our Byzantine Church does not offer daily Divine Liturgy.

Was that in part because this particular story struck me personally? I'm ashamed to say, yes. I had fallen away a bit in my heart over the last 3 years.

You said the priest was know by most on this forum-he is a national person or a poster. That is what I meant. It does not matter what our opinions are in repeating the story. There are rules.

I don't think you can break it down by Catholics and nonCatholics ... I also don't think there are that many genuine Christians in the U.S. ... oh yeah they like to be labeled such but vote for abortion to be legal and capital punishment to be abolished ... in any event something is coming ... I don't know what or when.
