Update #2 From the Board of Directors
02 January 2005:
Dear Parishoners:
Initially, on behalf of Andy and Bob, I want to sincerely wish you a wonderful, spiritually prosperous and healthy 2005!
As for our Saint Anthony's Parish, the word...tremendous...best comes to describing the "State of the Parish".
With the start of the year, we believe it is important to keep you "in the mix" of the current developments relative to the "secessionists" and their attempt to thwart Father Wickens Will and institute their own agenda on you, his faithful flock of Saint Anthony's.
They have started litigation against us. The obvious question is why? Why?
Essentially, these former parishioners want the Chapel and the property. Each faction, with their own beliefs, want to displace Father Perricone as Pastor and remove Father's Board and install their own Board of Directors. We can only surmise that they also plan to find a cleric that will comply with their specific interpretation of Catholicism.
As outlined in our earlier Update, Father did not believe in having elections for his Board of Directors. He didn't want to have elections. PERIOD! He knew they caused hurt feelings and created jealousy. Simply, Father did not care for Board of Directors, but he knew that, with his death rapidly approaching, he had to take care of things legally to make sure his flock was cared for from a legal standpoint. He did!
He also got Andy, Bob and me together on too many occasions to count and told us what he wanted, how it was to be done and went into great detail with us as to whom he wanted and why. By doing Father's Will, we now stand accused of "seizing control of Saint Anthony's."
Their attorneys have submitted the legal paperwork to have a judge deem the validity of our election. Our attorneys will respond to these allegations. While, obviously, concerned, we are very confident that the courts will find in favor of Father's last wishes for his flock.
To be succinct, the three of us, as well as Father Perricone, are committed to building on Father Wickens legacy. TO make St. Anthony's that spiritual beacon on the hill to save souls. "It's about souls, Larry...souls, souls, souls!"
The "secessionists" have chosen to believe that Andy, Bob and I simply decided to take control over Saint Anthony's. They have spread hateful and slanderous lies about us and Father Perricone. These former parishioners have their own mind set of what THEY wanted Father to do relative to a Board and THEIR parish. But, Father did what he wanted!
Some months back, some of these "secessionists" actually mentioned to us that the "...last thing we should EVER allow is a democratic election of a Board of Directors. Elections are paramount to destroying Traditional Chapel." These very same "secessionist" are now contesting our election, "...upset that there was no democratic vote."
Further, while the election was in July, the only time anyone presented to us a question of the elections was not until November, when it was announced that we were able to secure Father Wickens hand picked successor, Father Perricone. Then the uproar (four months after the fact) and suddenly, questions arose about the election, which was performed to the specified instructions of Father Wickens.
Unfortunately, many of you now receive many calls, email and regular mail from these former parishioners questioning you on every front. They want to believe they know better than you. Father had forewarned us of a "civil war" amongst parishioners and even within families if we were ever to achieve his will for St. Anthony's. Our beloved former Pastor has once again proven to be prophetic!
We intend to stay out of their "name calling" game. These former parishioners have made their decision. We respect their decision.
But we will not waiver from fulfilling the wishes of Father Wickens.
Thank you for supporting Father Wickens! I know that we are receiving graces from Father already and that an "avalanche of graces" will continue to flow upon us throughout 2005 and the years to come.
We will fight this fight every step of the way. This is not about what Andy, Bob or I want. Never has been! What has been done has been done under the specified instructions of Father Wickens. Father asked us to do some "things" for him in the caring of the souls of his flock at St. Anthony's. The three of us, just like you, did what was asked!
We just did what Father asked of us. It really is that simple!
The legal process is usually long and drawn out. We will keep you apprised as things develop. Unfortunately, we can do nothing to stop these former parishioners from bombarding you with their "propaganda" that runs diametrically opposed to the wishes of Father Wickens.
The New Year, 2005, promises to be a great year at Saint Anthony's. We believe that this coming year will be looked back on as the foundation of the building of Father Wickens tremendous legacy.
Sincerely,
Lawrence E. Small, Chairman, Board of Directors
Saint Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Chapel
Andrew Flock, Board Member
Robert Ciuffreda, Board Member
Update on the situation at St. Anthony's Chapel.
Ping!
Tell me then if you guys are DOING what Fr. Wickens wanted HOW COME that Fr. Perricone never before said Mass for the flock , while Fr. was ill ? or anytime before?
All the parishoners or MOST left because he is an OPUS DEI , New Ordo ordained priest? NOOOOO, well why then?
You bet your buttons that Victory will come to the TRUTHFUL side.......Fr. Wickens will make sure, and all the priests in Heaven!
What does ya all think of the update?
Happy New year......it is an ongoing debate, and requires prayer.
Unless legal action can return the parish to genuine tradition, time will be on the side of those now in possession. Short-term the diocese will create the illusion of some independence but in any dispute Father Perricone is bound to side with the diocese than the parish. Long-term traditionalists will fade away leaving a thoroughly compromised remnant.
Have Hope ! dear Soldiers of Christ...Our Lady will come through, and Fr. Wickens! Pray your rosary...have confidence and MAKE your petitions KNOWN to GOD.....The Wonder- worker St. Anthony surely will not fail you , TRUE Soldiers of Christ.
Remember, O MOST GRACIOUS Virgin Mary.....that NEVER was it known>>>>>>AMEN
GOD KEEP THE TRUE SOLDIERS OF CHRIST AND FR. MURPHY, ANd SSPX.
Sounds like Babtists to me.
I might suggest....saying the rosary in honor of and asking the help needed to, Our LAdy under the title of , THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION, ST. ANthony and ST. Thomas More!!!
