Some clowns in ABC NEWS apparently thought it would be a funny idea to have the arch-liberal "Father" Richard McBrien do commentary on the pope's funeral. What a sick joke!

Maybe there will be an on air exorcism for the broadcasters on ABC. Might be worth staying tuned to.

They have another priest with a ridiculous lisping accent doing some of the commentary as well. Sounds like the lisping Peter Sellars character from Lolita. The commentators have made several erroneous generalizations so far. Unbelievable. But then...it is ABC.

There is TV for everyone, just so happens that ABC is catering to crazy liberal pagan people tonight as their core audience.

Oh, good grief, they just wheeled out another New Agey liberal Catholic (Scott Appleby, one of the mediocre lightweights of liberal Catholic academia, an extreme modernist).

That fool is blabbing through the mass.

He is actually trashing JPII during the funeral.

Scott Appleby and Richard McBrien actually took turns criticizing the Pope (while prayers were going on during the Mass) for being too conservative. Absolutely disgusting. Amazingly so. Even by ABC standards.
Their words and actions reveal a lot about liberal Catholics. They will trash a man during his own funeral.

Katie Couric just did an interview in the Vatican on the coming papal election. She looked like a kid stoned in Disneyland or the equivalent - giggling, asking silly questions, etc.

Why is it they always dig up this Jesus Seminar nutjob anytime they want an "expert" on Christianity?

Oh, God, NOT THAT one! Pul-lllllllllleeeeeeeaaaase. The MSM talking heads and and production staff are pulling some of these wackjobs out of mothballs to rant against the Pope. Now, I think Charlie Gibson of ABC, who is some sort of Protestant, tried to do a good job, a respectful job. But it was just TOTALLY ABSURD that the production staff picked two of the wackiest liberals from Notre Dame (Richard McBrien and Scott Appleby) to throw verbal eggs at the pope DURING the funeral Mass! It was ridiculous. And they are VERY STUPID, by the way.
Come to think of it, it was probably PETER JENNINGS who picked them because he was originally slotted to cover the funeral. My, my... God DOES work in strange ways...

Someone told me that Fr. Charles Coulombe was to be providing the commentary for ABC's 24 hour news station during the funeral. I have never heard of this station, I don't think my cable provider carries it. Does anyone else know about this?

PBS here in Maryland (MPT - Maryland Public Television) is replaying the BBC LIVE broadcast of the funeral Mass in Rome. Better coverage than ABC's. Less chatter, better commentators WITHOUT the liberal American bias.

Yeah. Also, the
BBC coverage was GREAT. They had ONLY orthodox Catholics on doing commentary which was very perceptive and insightful. They also did a segment from Poland which was good as well. Very respectful, intelligent. Minimal chatter during the funeral Mass.
PBS ran the the whole Mass as covered by the BBC starting at around 9:00 EST.
